It's all the little things, like how NPCs just stand i front of doors and open them telepathically, or how you can see NPCs kind of freeze, jump and then "reset" when they are changing animations from walking to sitting or just about anything. The animations are so stale, and you just feel so disconnected from the world if you compare it with, say, half life 2 which was soon to be 11 years ago. I was thinking about fallout 4 the other day, and i've had this same thought before in the last 5 years, but i really think that the biggest gripe I've had with the fallout games (and oblivion&skyrim) is the engine. r/galaxynewsradio - Fallout-sounding music r/falloutcosplayers - Fallout-related cosplay r/Wasteland - A subreddit for the Wasteland games. r/thefalloutdiaries - Journal-like fan fiction. r/falloutmods - Fallout modding community r/classicfallout - Classic Fallout Games

#Ui development on gamebryo engine mods
The mods will almost certainly come, I agree. I’d hoped that Bethesda would have better utilized id after their purchase, but it seems that they’re not really interested in improving their products. id tech is responsive Bethesda’s engines are downright lethargic. id tech doesn’t care if it runs at 10FPS or 1,000FPS, but Bethesda engines fall apart. The bigger problem is that idtech just doesn’t get pushed much into larger worlds, and that since their base is solid, they can get away with reuse.Īnd that that’s nothing like Bethesda’s in-house tech. Idtech goes back a lot too, if they rewrite enough of the engine like id does it should work well enough, and it looks like they are redoing a lot so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now Unfortunately, it could be years before the game actually comes out. Microsoft has already confirmed that Starfield will be available on its game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass. The HUD’s font is also a perfect match for what Bethesda is using for the official Starfield website. One seems to indicate where the closest major star is shining from, while the “G” meter presumably relates to gravity.Īccording to users on r/Starfield, the screenshots are probably legit based on the spacesuit’s decal, which can supposedly be seen in the original announcement trailer (see below). We can only speculate what the other UI elements mean. Players will presumably be tasked with managing multiple life-support systems in order to stay alive in space. One of the more interesting things you’ll notice is the minimalist HUD, which includes a dial with oxygen and carbon dioxide readings. You can check out the screenshots directly below. The art direction also seems to have a Fallout vibe to it. We’re not sure where they originated from (nor can we confirm their authenticity), but they do look a lot like something running on the developer’s tried-and-true Creation Engine (Gamebryo). The first alleged screenshots of Bethesda’s ultra-secretive (and heavily hyped) sci-fi RPG – Starfield – have begun circulating on social media.
